The Final Blog Post

Wow! It's my last blog post for this Courage Project! So, let's get to the point so we can jump into Summer. For my final post, I wanted to share photos from my project, 3 interesting things I learned, 3 challenges I faced, and a reflection on Genius Hour.

Three things I found interesting:

1) Food in Asia is healthier than food in the U.S.

2) Obesity rates are higher where processed foods are more common

3) Food portions in Asia are generally smaller that those in the U.S.

Three challenges I faced:

1) Exporting video files

2) Keeping my presentation in the time limit

3) My computer crashed during one of my presentations

Alright, now it's time for reflections.

What was the Genius Hour experience like for you?

I think that Genius Hour was one of the most unique projects I've worked on. The format gave us a lot of freedom and allowed us to decide how to present our projects with little criteria. However, the whole premise of Genius Hour is that we would spend 20% of our class time on our courage projects. 20% is equivalent of one day a week, and we weren't given that much time per week to work on our projects. Looking back, I still think this was a great project.

How did the exhibit go?

Overall, my exhibit was great! I felt comfortable presenting and had great visuals. Unfortunately, during one of my presentations the computer crashed.

What ideas did you get from other students during there exhibition?

After watching other presentations, I was inspired to help save the global shark population and aid those with depression. Also, listening to other student's presentations, I think that it would have been interesting to add statistics in with my facts to give the audience more perspective.
